CD Installation

Prerequisites

o This distribution is for Solaris only. For other platforms see our >products web page.
o To install the JOB server you must know your root password.
o To use the JOB client you must have access to a running JOB server. You can try the client without installing it at demo.easysoft.com.

Installing from this CD

  1. downloadClick to install the Easysoft JOB
  2. Follow the instructions given during the installation.

  3. The install script automatically starts the JOB server.

  4.
  5. Open a new browser window and open the URL:
  6. http://yourhost.yourdomain:8031/demo/

  7. You can connect to ODBC data sources on the machine where the JOB server is installed with the url:
  8. jdbc:easysoft://appletHost:JOBPort/:limit=50

If your server is connected to the internet, you can use the DSN demo to connect to a database at Easysoft.

Note: appletHost is a special host name only understood by the Easysoft JOB, refering to the host that the applet was served from.

unixODBC dictates what data sources are visible. These are stored in the file odbc.ini on the server. The JOB demo comes with a data source name (DSN) ready configured, which connects to the demo.easysoft.com server.

Note: The demo DSN connects through a pre-installed copy of the Easysoft ODBC-ODBC bridge client. To connect with a driver or driver manager of your choice, place a symbolic link installdir/easysoft/lib/libodbc.so to the driver library.
